What Was Your Favorite Moment Your Senior Year?

I really enjoyed homecoming week. I am in a few clubs and i was able to ride in a car and threw candy to the elementary school kids. The night of our football game, I was all decked out in my Maconaquah gear. The game was really intense because it was against our rivals Peru. I had a really great time!

Oliver's Heading back to school!

It’s all fun and games until someone gets peed on… by a frog that is LOL! This session was so much fun, check out this Back to school mini session. lots of smiles and made lasting memories doing it!

Kicking off the new School year, Oliver really brought his enthusiasm. Much like my own kids, he too has a mom who does photography. Before we moved to Indiana I reached out to Jessica, looking for a connection to the photography world out here. She has been nothing but a great support and friend through my transition and I thank her so much for that. Check out here photography page after you look at this one and give her a like on her social media. Jessica, was able to capture some stunning action shots of me that night... including this one!

Before this session I had to bring out the bug spray. The mosquitoes were relentless, but we did get to catch some frogs! One ended up peeing on me when i caught it...YUCK! I grew up in the backwoods, and It didn't stop me from having fun lol. When it got dark enough we brought out the mason jars and started playing with the fireflies! Oliver left with a big grin and not wanting to leave, that in my book meant it was a success! thank You Jessica and Oliver for blessing me with your presence that day.

XO, Rebecca

WHY DO I DO BACK TO SCHOOL SESSIONS?

I was that person who was tired of the ONE GENERIC PHOTO that you get for your kid's school pictures. And the one thing that makes me laugh the most, is that it's basically the same background as the ones I used in the 90's in my school pictures. Don't get me wrong, I Appreciate these pictures and the people who take them. In fact I am grateful for what they do (It's a lot of work!). I was just bored of it. This leads to me purchasing a really cool vintage desk on craigslist and taking school pictures to the next level. I loved doing them for my kids so much that I wanted to share this experiance with you.

This Session's images are an example of what you could expect from my back to school mini sessions. You won't just get one photo, you get TEN, unique and artistically hand edited for you admire, enjoy and print. for more information about my one day only mini sessions,

Every Birthday party needs a cake, so why not make them? This is a great way for kids to get their creative juices flowing while having a bit of sugar in between. I was lucky enough to come in and photograph an Emoji Cupcake making party. The environment was so fun and laid back. The parents had a good time too!

Famous Hoosier

Frances Slocum (also known as Maconaquah), Is one awesome hoosier! Why not add a little art and creativity to a research project? Even with this unpredictable weather, This shoot was a lot of fun brainstorming and executing!

Frances Slocum "Maconaquah"

One of the fun things about being a mom of kids in elementary, is helping with projects. I know, I know, You're probably thinking that I'm nuts. There are somethings that drive me up the wall and a lot of it involves having to remember fractions, and god forbid you ask me to not use a calculator while remembering how to "show your work!" So the everyday homework is something that is less than entertaining.

PROJECTS on the other hand, are something I like doing. Being that I come from the west coast, Indiana History intrigues me. My daughter has been working her little heart out on her famous hoosier project. She chose Maconaquah as her famous Hoosier. Those of you who are not from the midwest, Her name is Frances Slocum. She is also known as the lost sister.

my daughter really wanted me to do a photo shoot of her as Maconaquah. I of course, LOVED the idea and these are what we came up with!

Frances Slocum : A white child that was kidnapped by indians in 1778. "Don't worry, this is actually a pretty happy story." eventually she was reunited with her family when she was in her 50's. She was loved by her adopted family and grew to accept and cherrish her native culture.

As a white woman living within the Miami native american tribe, she was able to help break the barrier between the Indian and american culture, thus making her a pretty awesome hoosier. Here is a link I found if your interested in her story!

Peru, Circus City Festival

Peru, Indiana, The Circus Capital of the world! The Peru Amateur Circus held in July is anything, but amateur and you must come and see it! Photographs taken by Rebecca Danielle Portraits.

_IMG2394.jpg

When I told my family I was moving to Peru, the first thing that came to mind is the South American country, But for Indiana residents they know it to be the Circus Capital. There is some amazing history  here in this small town of 11,417 residents. The Circus City Festival Inc was founded to Bring back the rich circus heritage in 1960.

"Dating back to the late 1800s, many of the country’s most famous circuses winter-quartered only a few miles southeast of Peru. That area is now home to the famous International Circus Hall of Fame." - Circus City Festival Inc

Once a year in the month of July, around two hundred young people (ages range from 7 to 21 years) put on a sensational amateur circus. I had the pleasure of watching this show and I was amazed at the talent these performers had. From Highwire, to juggling I was really impressed! I couldn't look away as I witnessed young women hanging from their hair!

IT WAS ANYTHING, BUT AMATEUR !

People come from all over to partake in this eight day event! The entire downtown shuts down for what we call "Circus week". its basically a community carnival focused on celebrating the circus. With tryouts around the corner I thought I would post some photos I took of this event from last year. If you are ever in the area and have not yet seen this festival, You must come and whitness the pride this town has for its Circus.
